Brașov is quite in the center of the triangle of other 3 Romanian cities, namely Timișoara, Iași and Constanța.

It's a pity that 40000 meters in the heart of Brasov will become a large warehouse called Cora, which will also attract unwanted traffic. Also they bought the land pretty cheap...

  • Municipal Stadium, Brasov fan (guest) wrote 13 years ago:
The old Municipal Stadium was the biggest and most important stadium in the city of Brasov and was located in an area called Bartolomeu , in the north-western part of the city, on the way to Sibiu . It was built in the mid seventies years, by the local authorities, with an important contribution from all the big factories in the city . It had a total capacity of approximately 30.000 places ( standing , benches , seats and official box ) . It was a multi-use arena up until the early ninties years, the place being a host for certain football games , athletic competitions , civilian and military parades . It was used as an alternative home arena for the city's most important football club , F.C. Brasov , also known as Steagu Rosu Brasov and Dinamo Brasov , when the local team played its most important games against the big clubs of the country - Dinamo and steaua , and for international football games, in the European Football Cup competitions . The last game on the old stadium was played in the year 1991 , in front of approximately 5.000 people and it was a friendly match of the Romanian National Football Team : Romania - USA , which the American team won 2 - 0 . Afterwards, it was solely used as a training ground , on very rare occasions . Practically abandoned as a sports venue , with no additional money invested and no further work being done , for maintenance and / or improvement , the old stadium entered an advanced state of degradation , with only its playing field still in relatively good condition . The old stadium was put to the ground , by the local authorities , a few years ago , with a new and modern stadium to take its place , in the future . Although plans have been made for the new stadium , a starting date for the construction has not yet been set . Today , all that exists in the place of the old stadium is a big plot of land , with the remains of the former grass field in the center . Only some pictures are left as a reminder of the big old stadium .
